How We Started
River Guardians began in 2021 when a small group of neighbors noticed the increasing amount of industrial runoff and litter accumulating in the south bend. What started as a weekend trash pickup evolved into a structured nonprofit dedicated to scientific monitoring and community-wide education.
Today, we operate as a 100% volunteer-led organization. Every dollar donated goes directly toward equipment like waders, grabbers, and water testing kits that allow us to expand our reach and deepen our impact.
